The abondon village

When come to weekend hiking, Mount Serapi, Mount Santubong, Mount Singai & Mount Gading seem to be THE CHOICE of mountain because is consider quit near to Kuching. Personally, Mt Gading make me want to vomit as the path is really long & at the summit just a small patch of lawn surrounded by trees. Mt Singai, My Serapi & Mt Santubong is fun but then being there too many times. So i always ask myself if there is any new mountain awaiting me out there? Those that is not that famous & not many people being there like Mt Jagoi.

Mt Jagoi, located somewhere along the way to the sarawak version of Petalling Street - Serikin. There are not absolote signboard telling u the exact location, but if u make a google search of "gunung jagoi", u should be able to find it.

It was after a heavy raining nite, the morning sky is cloudy which isn't my preferable weather for a photography outing. I pick up Mr Olympus & go to Mr Nikon house who is always being very generous to use his 4WD for the journey. Where there are no news from Mr Canon whether he coming along, but to us we understood that no call mean no following. Perhaps he got more interesting activites. ;)

On the way, we stop by Taiton Lake, to shoot the reflections of the mountain & see some fish. The mountain on the horizon is still covered by a very thin layer of cloud. I didn't take much photo there however I left a paddle of pee somewhere in the bush.

From Taiton lake to Mt Jagoi is less then 30mins. At the foothill u can see the path make out of concrete steps hill. It seem like a never ending staircase leading to forest cover by rubber tress & pineapple fruit. I guess this place used to be a rubber plantation.

The steps are slippery as it rained the night before, lucky I wearing my sander still got flower. The concrete staircase only take up 1 or 2 km of the entire journey, the rest of it is flat dirt road which consider fairly relaxing. There is a abandon village near to the summit, the houses appear to be in good condition but there is not one in it accept for one which lived a friendly old lady.

There is a round building in the village seem to be some kind of community hall, at the side there is a small hut with a few skull inside. Where are all the villagers ??? When u think about it, an empty village & a hut full of skull...hrmmm. I guess you could imagine the rest. To get to the summit, you have to take the path till the end of the village and then take the left turn at the junction. after about 20mins hike on a stiff slope u will reach the summit & viewpoint. the view on top is very interesting.
